Undeclared wheat in Shopsy's Original Recipe Jumbo Franks

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Maple Leaf Consumer Foods are warning people with allergies to wheat not to consume Shopsy’s Original Recipe Jumbo Franks due to undeclared wheat.

The Shopsy’s Original Recipe Jumbo Franks contain wheat which is not declared on the label.

The manufacturer, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods, Mississauga, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace and the CFIA is monitoring.

Shopsy’s Original Recipe Jumbo Franks bearing EST 611 are affected by this alert:

• Size: 450g
• UPC: 0 63100 20722 9
• Best before dates: 2010 SE 06, 2010 SE 16, 2010 SE 27

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product to date, however consumption may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat.
